Sustainability

Responsible by format.

We don't force one package on every need. Each KALDÁ format earns its place, and we are honest about what each one does well.

Format

The right formatfor every need.

One water, in a family of formats. We match the package to the moment instead of forcing one on every need, and we are honest about what each format does well.

The full KALDÁ range together: cans, glass, PET, and bag-in-box
01The range

Every format carries an impact, and every format has a job it does well. Rather than name one material as the answer, we state what each one gives a channel, and we keep each claim specific enough to be checked.

Sustainability that sells

The range does commercial work too.

What the formats give your customers, and what they give your accounts.

  • Sustainability that sells

Responsible options in every format, honestly made and easy to feel good about.

  • Sell-through support

Samples, POS, and merchandising for buyer meetings and launches.

  • Demand back to you

Your accounts listed on KALDÁ Where to Buy.

The loop

A format for every moment.

Can, glass, PET, and bag-in-box. Each one is chosen for the channel it serves, and each one is recyclable where collection exists.

02Recycled content

An industry figure, not ours yet.

Aluminum cans average about 71% recycled content across the industry. We will publish KALDÁ’s own certified figure once confirmed by our supplier.

Until that certificate is in hand, 71% is an industry average and not a figure for the cans in your hand. We would rather say that than round it in our favour.

Responsible by format

Each format earns its place.

What each package does well, stated plainly, so a buyer can choose on the facts.

  • Aluminum can

Infinitely recyclable, and a can can come back as a can again and again where collection is strong. The trade-off: making new aluminum is energy-intensive, so the real footprint depends on recycled content and how well cans are collected.

  • Glass

Inert and endlessly recyclable, with the best in-glass experience and no interaction between pack and water. The trade-off: glass is heavy to ship and energy-intensive to produce, so it is best for the table, not for distance.

  • PET (rPET)

Light to ship and made with recycled PET, which keeps transport weight down and reuses material. The trade-off: recycling rates are still low in many markets, so much PET is landfilled unless it is collected and returned, so it is best where deposit systems work.

  • Bag-in-box

Uses very little packaging per litre and is very light to ship. The trade-off: the bag, tap, and box are different materials, so it is harder to recycle as one unit, which makes it best for offices, events, and refill.

We state each format’s benefit specifically, we substantiate our claims, and we publish our own certified recycled-content figures once verified. Please recycle.

Per format

Not every format carries the same footprint.

KALDÁ is available in cans, PET, glass, and bag-in-box. Each material has a different footprint in production, freight, and end of life, so we do not present the whole range as one and the same.

Glass
Inert and endlessly recyclable, with the best in-glass experience and no interaction between pack and water. The trade-off: glass is heavy to ship and energy-intensive to produce, so it is best for the table, not for distance.

03Responsible supply
Responsible supply

Made to meet the rules of each market.

KALDÁ is supplied in line with recycling and deposit obligations in each market where it is sold. Registrations and on-pack marks are confirmed market by market.

KALDÁ is packaged in Iceland, a country whose electricity is largely generated from renewable sources.

We do not claim carbon neutrality, and we do not claim the lowest footprint in the category. Where a number is not verified, we say so.

Please recycle.

Cans, bottles, cartons, and packaging only come back if they are put in the right bin. Follow the deposit or recycling scheme where you are for the format in your hand.
